1958 Airstream Globetrotter
Believe it or not, this little 1958 Airstream Globetrotter
has been in our client's family since new! Unfortunately,
it has spent the last decade or so closed up in storage -
outdoors. That generally makes for great mouse-habitat,
and this trailer is no different. Actually, given the amount
of little critter evidence we found, the overall condition is
spectacular. Often, old trailers like this come to use with
painted-over walls and rotted out floors - not the case
here. Once we tossed the really gross mattresses and
upholstery, things started to look better right away. Our
client's plan is to have us refinish the woodwork, restore
the appliances, add AC, new floors, new fabrics and
upholstery and (of course) put a great shine on the
exterior. Along the way we'll solve a few plumbing
problems, service the brakes and bearings - generally
give this great classic Airstream a new lease on life.
Stay tuned...

You know it is not pretty in there when
there is a trash can outside the door...
What you have already missed out on
is seeing the light green exterior
coating. It took several chemical
cleanings to get it looking this good.
The mold and mildew was pretty thick
on this old girl. Long way to go, but
we're under way. We've seen much
(much) worse.
A little early progress - our upholsterer needed a project so we got a jump on our
fabric work. Test fitted and wrapped for storage, we won't see these again for a
little while. Lots of interior work to do first.
